Capacity Forest Management Ltd is accepting applications for a Logging Manager.
The successful candidate will have at least 10 years experience in the Forest Industry and will be responsible for Project Management & Contractor Supervision of all Logging Operations coordinated by the company.
The candidate will report directly to the Operations Manager and will work closely with Forestry, Engineering and Marketing staff in the development and implementation of operational plans. The Ideal candidate will be experienced in coastal road building as well as conventional and helicopter harvesting.
A good understanding of the Forest and Range Practices Act, OH&S Regulations, SAFE Company Certification and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative are required. Excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills are also required. Experience in Quality Control and log sorting/grading are considered an asset.
Scope of Operations: Capacity Forest Management Ltd is a forest management firm dedicated solely to managing First Nation forest tenures on Vancouver Island, the Central Coast, South Coast, and the Interior. Currently the company manages between 600,000750,000m3 of annual harvest.
General Duties:
Promoting Safety and ensuring compliance with WorkSafe BC Regulations and SAFE Company requirements.
Implementing and communicating operational plans to Road building and Logging Contractors.
Conduct harvesting and road inspections.
Inspection of operations to ensure that all safety, environmental and operational plans/commitments are being followed.
Tracking / reporting on safety, production, quality.
Production reporting and forecasting to ensure schedules and targets are being met.
Supervision of Quality control and Contract Personnel.
Prepare budgets and managing costs within your specific responsibilities.
Registered with the ABCFP while not essential but is an asset.
Valid Class 5 Drivers license.
Proficient in using a computer and related forestry software.
Ability to work in a team environment.
