5th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP15)

Event 2025-07-21 - 2025-07-23 - Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

The 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP15) will convene in July 2025 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. This global gathering will bring together policymakers, scientists, civil society, and wetland managers to advance the conservation and wise use of wetlands.

Building on the outcomes of COP14, which adopted the Wuhan Declaration, COP15 will continue efforts to integrate wetland ecosystems into national and international frameworks for biodiversity, climate resilience, and sustainable development. The Wuhan Declaration outlines key principles and commitments to halt and reverse the global loss of wetlands through urgent, coordinated action.

Key themes at COP15 will include:

  • Strengthening wetland protection and restoration;
  • Enhancing wetland governance and financing;
  • Integrating wetlands into climate and biodiversity frameworks;
  • Promoting knowledge exchange and capacity development.

COP15 is expected to result in new resolutions and commitments to further the Ramsar Convention’s mission of protecting wetlands as vital ecosystems for people and nature.
