Recognizing the role of forests as a cornerstone of resilient and sustainable agrifood systems
In celebration of its 80th anniversary, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is marking eight decades of advancing global food security and promoting sustainable development.
To commemorate this milestone, FAO has launched a call for nominations to honor global forestry champions—individuals or organizations that have made exceptional contributions to sustainable forest management, the transformation of agrifood systems, and other global initiatives aligned with FAO’s mandate.
Who Can Be Nominated?
Nominations are open to a wide range of stakeholders, including governmental institutions, national, regional, or local agencies, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academic institutions, community-based organizations, private sector entities, and other relevant actors.
Eligible nominees are institutions, initiatives, or programmes that have demonstrated outstanding contributions to forestry development at the national, regional, or global level.
The deadline for submissions is 31 May 2025.
Recognition of Recipients
Successful nominees will be notified by FAO in September 2025. Honorees will be formally recognized during a global high-level event at the World Food Forum, taking place at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy, in October 2025.
