Job Responsibilities: Develop an understanding of the FRC business model, especially the importance of producing high quality products in a cost-effective manner. Participate with our Technical Services team, which provides various technical services to FRC managers and clients. Maintain and update property level spatial and attribute data within ArcGIS or similar systems. Generate various project-related maps, reports, and documents for clients. Develop an understanding of ArcGIS and associated tools, including an understanding of relational databases such as SQL Server and their use at FRC. Develop an understanding of FRCs internal inventory processor and assist with inventory design, processing, and reporting. Develop an understanding of and provide support for FRCs handheld field data collection systems and inventory data transfer. Participate in reviews of current technology and innovations in the geo-spatial arena. Assist with other special projects as requested. Promote a positive image of FRC with clients, associates, contractors, and the general public.
Qualifications:
Requirements: Two or four-year degree in Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resources Management from an SAF-accredited college. Working knowledge of standard computer software packages, e.g., Word and Excel; an introduction to or working knowledge of MS Access is highly desirable. Working knowledge of ArcGIS or similar mapping and data management systems and a willingness to become fully proficient with the systems used by FRC. Introduction to forest inventory design, workup, and reporting and a willingness to learn the FRC standard methods. Willingness to learn about biometrics, mensuration, volume equations, quantitative analysis, and statistics. Willingness to learn about forest finance and economics. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills. Must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to work well with others in team production situations. Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.
