Forest NB is the New Brunswick Forest Products Association, a non-profit organization representing forest product manufacturers since 1957 in dealings with government and the public. Our mission is to be the Voice of Forests and Forestry and we are seeking a motivated individual to take on the challenging role of Marketing and Communications Manager to help us achieve our mission and deliver on our vision of growing a future for our communities through renewable forests.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the ideal candidate will bring real world knowledge of marketing strategies, possess exceptional communication skills, and be savvy of the application of digital media in marketing and communication campaigns. This position requires a broad range of communication and marketing skills. Forest NB is based out of Fredericton, NB but consideration will be given for this position to be based from an alternate location within New Brunswick. Travel within province and an expectation of some presence in our Fredericton office as required is expected.
Basic requirements:
A university degree or college diploma in communications, public relations, marketing and journalism or in a related field and several years of experience in advertising, public relations or communications officer position or in a related occupation are required.
Valid driver’s licence
High level of comfort with public presentations
Experience managing and creating content for social and digital media
Experience related to the natural resources sector in particular forestry is a definite asset.
Bilingualism (English/French) is an essential asset.
Main duties:
Assess characteristics of the New Brunswick forestry sector to be promoted and advise on communication needs.
Advise the executive director on promotion and advocacy strategies
Prepare, manage and report on communication and marketing budget needs
Manage the FNB communication committee in consultation with member companies and the executive director
Manage any required temporary or permanent communication support staff and consultants
Develop and implement advocacy campaigns appropriate for print or electronic media
Gather, research and prepare communications material for internal and external audiences
Develop, deliver and evaluate communication strategies and programs designed to inform multiple stakeholders, including association members, their employees and the general public of forest management and related policies, sustainability initiatives and economic impact.
Organize and participate in trade shows and public exhibitions.
Prepare or oversee preparation of reports, briefs, bibliographies, speeches, presentations, Web sites and press releases
Develop and organize workshops, meetings, ceremonies and other events for publicity, member recruitment and information purposes
Initiate and maintain contact with the media
Arrange interviews and news conferences
Assist in or coordinate the preparation of brochures, reports, newsletters and other multi media material
Organize and coordinate event planning
Miscellaneous administrative support when and where required
Skills:
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite but especially Word and Powerpoint.
Basic Excel skills
Experience with the following applications is preferred asset: WordPress, Survey Monkey, Constant Contact and Event Brite.
Photography, videography and editing abilities are a definite asset.
Understanding and application of web and social media analytics are definite assets.
