The occurrence of pests and diseases in Africa is creating considerable adverse impact on forests and tree products, and more importantly  on tree growth and yield of forest products, thus reducing profits on forest investments. Effective management of pests and diseases requires reliable information on the biology, ecology, and distribution, as well as on their impacts on the forest ecosystems and possible methods of control.
