Building on the successful launch of the Regional Science-Policy Information Network (SPIN Africa) in October 2025, IUFRO continues the dialogue on forest and landscape restoration in Africa through the SPIN Africa Webinar Series. This second webinar shifts the focus from strategic discussion to practical implementation, highlighting concrete experiences and best practices from restoration initiatives across the continent.

Organized by IUFRO together with the SPIN Africa Core Group, the webinar will bring together African forest scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders to exchange insights on how restoration commitments can be translated into effective action on the ground, strengthening the link between science, policy, and practice.

What to Expect

The webinar will feature expert presentations showcasing implementation experiences and lessons learnt from restoration initiatives in different African contexts. Speakers from institutions including such as KEFRI, FORNESSA, CIFOR–ICRAF, and LUANAR will share perspectives on institutional approaches, regional collaboration, community-based restoration, and evidence-based monitoring.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the speakers during a live audience Q&A and interactive discussion on key success factors, including governance arrangements, financing mechanisms, and stakeholder engagement.

The webinar is open to a broad audience, including policymakers, researchers, forestry and landscape restoration practitioners, NGOs, civil society organizations, community representatives, students and young professionals, development organizations, and members of the IUFRO network.
