Balancing Socio-Economic Needs with Conservation in Forest and Tree-Based Landscapes

This session will explore how African forest and tree-based landscapes can meet socio-economic needs while ensuring effective biodiversity conservation. Participants will examine practical approaches for harmonizing livelihoods with ecosystem protection, supported by case studies from selected African countries.

The webinar will also highlight real-world examples of biodiversity and wildlife–livelihood conflicts, providing insights into their drivers, impacts, and potential solutions. Lessons from community-based and ecosystem-based management initiatives will be integrated, showcasing strategies that foster coexistence, resilience, and sustainable resource use.
