Columbia Pulp, LLC is currently looking for a Controller to join our team. The Controller leads the financial, accounting, purchasing and information systems operations staff and is accountable for corporate and plant level responsibilities to include: general accounting, budget preparation, payables, payroll, billing, cost accounting, bill of materials, month-end close, business analysis, financial reporting and assisting in cost estimates for major capital expenditures, and product profitability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for internal controls at the plant for operations, sales, and finance. Establishes appropriate processes and assure controls are in place.
Understands and communicates business strategy, goals, and initiatives to all levels. Analyzes internal controls to ensure assets are adequately safeguarded and results are accurately reported.
Prepares operating budgets.
Performs month-end and year-end close activities including accruals, account reconciliations, financial statement development: balance sheet, income statement and cash flow report preparation.
Performs monthly variance analysis and prepares reports of actual results versus budget and internal consumption reporting.
Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
Arranges for audits of company’s accounts.
Oversees all company payroll functions (processing, reporting, third party vendor management, etc.)
Acts as primary liaison between the company and creditor/bond/debt authorities including bond Trustee.
Prepares all reports required by regulatory agencies.
Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
Ensures accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results. Investigates and explains the book to physical adjustments.
Reviews labor reporting and cost, material costs, manufacturing overhead, distribution cost, returns and inventory levels.
Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
Analyzes and accurately reports current month’s financial results to the plant.
Assures adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Policies.
Assists in the completion of special projects.

Requirements

BS in Accounting or Business Administration, Masters degree is a plus.
Must have experience working with Microsoft Dynamics and NAV accounting system.
7-10 years accounting experience, minimum of 5 years as plant controller or cost manager in a manufacturing environment, managing a staff, with an emphasis on cost accounting, reporting and variance analysis.
Experience in a pulp and paper mill a plus.
Sound planning and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government and to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Demonstrated leadership as part of a cross-functional plant management team.
Proven ability to manage and develop staff.
Strong attention to detail.
MS Office and tools.
