The Forestry Policy and Resources Division (FOA) leads FAO’s work in promoting sustainable forest management and providing leadership on the environmental, social and economic dimensions of forestry, including its contributions to poverty reduction and food security and nutrition. It supports member countries, civil society and the private sector on aspects ranging from development of effective forest policies to forest conservation and management issues, and strengthens the role of forests in climate change mitigation and adaptation. The Division also collects, analyses and disseminates information on the world’s forest resources and on the production, trade and consumption of wood and non-wood forest products.
The Technical Specialist – Climate Change and Green Climate Fund programme support - will lead the Green Climate Fund (GCF) readiness project “Preparatory support for GCF engagement in Equatorial Guinea” (GCP/EQG/015/GCF). The post is aligned with FOA’s country support on climate change mitigation and adaptation, and will be located under the REDD+ team of the FAO Forestry Department.
The post will focus on strengthening Equatorial Guinea’s access to and participation in the GCF, by building the capacities of the National Designated Authority (NDA) and by supporting the formulation of a GCF country programme as well as a project review and no-objection procedure, which aim to promote a paradigm shift in achieving low-emission and climate-resilient development.
